DESCRIPTION:The Peace Report 2022\, published by Germany's leading peace r
esearch institutes in June\, focuses on Russia's war of aggression against
Ukraine in violation of international law and its worldwide political\, e
conomic and social consequences. On 1 September 2022\, Professor Conrad Sc
hetter\, Director of BICC and co-editor of the Peace Report\, will present
and discuss its most important recommendations. With its commitment to a
"values-based foreign policy" in the coalition agreement\, the German gove
rnment emphasizes that respect for human rights and international law is a
top priority. The withdrawal of the Bundeswehr from Afghanistan and Germa
ny's handling of local forces also raises questions about how German—fem
inist—foreign policy should behave towards the Taliban. In his presentat
ion\, Conrad Schetter will also address this aspect of the Peace Report.
